In the maritime world, we frequently drill scenarios such as a fire onboard, or man overboard, because it’s a requirement. But how do you manage your medical drills to keep the whole crew competent?

Classing ourselves as a pretty adventurous team, and working in an industry involving travel and work in some of the most remote locations, we were really interested to see this research paper exploring female specific barriers to participation in expeditions and adventure travel. As the first study of its kind published, it takes a closer look at why females are underrepresented in the expedition environment and their concerns relating to their health in this environment.

I know when I am getting stressed. I can recognise the feelings almost instantly.

I bloody love a good drill. And this was no exception, in fact it was totally awesome! Let me set the scene...There are courses running in security, fire and medical. The scenario was that of an improvised explosive device that had been planted on board a ship.

And I am back on the ambulances..... and it was not how I expected it to be.

Liz Baugh is the founder of Red Square Medical, this is what she had to say when asked a few questions about her career to date.

Rob is one of our longest serving maritime medics and has been dubbed a "legend" by many that have been taught by him, it may well be something to do with his acerbic wit but more likely his vast experience in many different sectors of the maritime industry.
